I Want to Ski Bumps Like the Pros - Page 1
By Todd Murchison, January 15,
2001
But which kind of pro?
There are many different ways to ski
the bumps, and as far as we know their is no celestial mogul judge who decides which kind
of bump skiing is right and which is wrong. However, we mortals swim in opinions on the
subject. Some people say its the specialists - World Cup and professional mogul skiers who
run the hottest through the bumps. Others claim that a strong, highly trained instructor
or experienced patroller is tops. Still others maintain that a good alpine racer will beat
anybody down the mountain. Who is right? Nobody.
If you take three ski professionals: one a racer, one a top
mogul competitor, and one a seasoned ski patroller or instructor - and send them down the
same bump field, you will see very diverse styles of skiing. All the skiers will ski fast
and bold, but they will usually employ slightly different strategies.
